An Amazing Winery Tour with Sara!

点评：We had the most wonderful winery tour with Sara at Montale! This was easily one of the highlights of our time in Lake Garda.
Sara was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all of our questions. We learned so much about the local grapes, the unique soil of the region, and how each of those elements influences the finished wine. We especially loved getting a behind-the-scenes look at the entire process, from how the grapes are grown and harvested to the different blends, fermentation methods, and even some of the ways they are experimenting with bringing out different flavors in the wine.
We also really appreciated learning about Montale’s approach to sustainability, including their efforts to minimize pesticide use and utilize solar energy. You could genuinely feel how much thought, creativity, and care goes into every part of the process.
One of our favorite parts was hearing the family story and learning how the three brothers inherited the winery and decided to take it forward into a new chapter. Hearing about that history and the recognition their wines have received made tasting them even more special.
We happened to visit during harvest, which was such a treat because we were able to see the winery in action! It made everything Sara was explaining come to life and gave us an even greater appreciation for just how much work goes into every bottle.
And, of course, the tasting was fantastic. The wines were delicious, unique, and incredibly reasonably priced, especially from our perspective as Americans who are used to paying quite a bit more for wines of this quality. We definitely ordered some to take home, even knowing we have international shipping costs to look forward to!
It was such a lovely afternoon, and we truly couldn’t say enough wonderful things about both the experience and Sara as our guide. If you are visiting the area, this tour is 100% worth doing. We would absolutely come back again!
