点评：Beautiful mill, superbly run venue
We spent the day at Sopley Mill attending a friend’s wedding and, putting the celebration itself aside, the venue, food and service alone deserve a glowing review.
First impressions are excellent. There’s a large car park with plenty of space, and from the moment we arrived the welcome from staff was warm and genuinely friendly.
The building itself is absolutely stunning. The mill retains many of its original features including exposed brickwork, heavy oak beams and beautiful wooden floors, which give the whole place real character. The venue is spread across three floors, each maintaining the same charm. Despite the age of the building, accessibility has clearly been thought about as there are lifts available, which several wheelchair users in our party were able to use easily.
Outside, the setting is just as impressive. The gardens and lawn sit between two channels of the Avon Millstream, giving the venue a wonderfully secluded feel. It’s picturesque, peaceful and completely private, with no neighbouring houses in sight.
Considering the scale of the event (around 100 guests), the catering was excellent. The wedding breakfast was very good, particularly impressive given the challenge of producing high-quality food for that many people at once. Meals arrived piping hot and the service team worked tirelessly to keep everything running smoothly. The wine selection was also very good.
The service throughout the day was superb. Staff were professional, efficient and friendly, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The bar team kept everything moving quickly and smoothly, even when it was busy.
Later in the evening, the food served was just as good, rounding off the day nicely.
I have no idea what it costs to hire the venue, but if you’re planning a wedding reception and looking for somewhere truly special, this place is absolutely incredible. A beautiful setting combined with excellent service.
