点评:I recently purchased a Platinum membership and visited Busch Gardens Williamsburg for the first time in early August, with my family and family friends. Unfortunately, our first impression of the park was extremely disappointing, and I believe management should take a serious look at what occurred that morning.
We arrived early with the intention of being in the park at opening. Instead, we did not enter the park until approximately 11:45 a.m., nearly two hours later.
The first bottleneck was parking. Despite having VIP parking, we waited nearly 20 minutes simply to reach the booth and scan our barcode. Having one employee move between multiple lanes of vehicles is an inefficient process that creates an entirely unnecessary backup. Once through the booth, parking itself was fine.
The security process was significantly worse. Guests from both VIP and general parking were funneled into a single security line that extended into the general parking lot. We waited more than 40 minutes in a slow moving line with families and children becoming increasingly hot and frustrated.
We were told that a new security process was being tested. If this was indeed a pilot, I strongly encourage management to review the results from that week. From a guest experience perspective, the process was a clear failure. When we finally reached security, there was only one person checking bags despite the size of the crowd. Guests with bags were also required to remove nearly every item for inspection, creating additional delays.
This was a mid week morning, not a peak weekend or holiday, and yet a large group of paying guests lost nearly two hours before even reaching the park entrance.
As a new Platinum Member, this was particularly concerning. I made an investment in Busch Gardens expecting a premium experience and looking forward to bringing my family back throughout the year. Instead, our very first experience began with confusion, excessive lines, heat, frustration, and inefficient processes.
I hope Busch Gardens Williamsburg will review the parking and security procedures recently piloted, including staffing levels.
Busch Gardens has an incredible park, but even the best attractions cannot overcome an entrance experience that makes guests feel frustrated before they have even walked through the gates.
