点评:Stepping through the door into the grounds of the home where this cooking class is held is a magical experience. You are immediately greeted by beautiful gardens, and the kitchen inside — with its many windows and stunning view of the mountains — floods the space with wonderful natural light.
Irma taught us which ingredients to use to make both red and green molé, and also showed us how to make potato and plantain patties to accompany the molés. She walked us through her different cooking methods, so we were chopping, sautéing, and shaping patties throughout the class. It was a great hands-on experience. Irma is very warm and made us all feel relaxed and welcome in her kitchen.
Our group of 5 had a wonderful afternoon learning a lot and then sitting down to enjoy the meal together with Irma at the end. She also shared some fruits at the end of the meal that were new to some of us, which was a fun surprise.
The class is conducted in Spanish, and some of us were more fluent than others — but it was fine. I think that even if you don't speak the language, the shared love of food will carry you through. Irma also knows a bit of English, which helps!
