Each elephant has its own story of hardship and past suffering, but at BLES they are rescued and given a future defined by autonomy and care.
Katherine and her family work tirelessly to give these elephants the respect they deserve, ensuring all their needs are met with compassion and dedication. As a visitor, you experience the elephants in the splendour of the forest—simply observing, without intrusion, and soaking in the peace and tranquillity.
The elevated viewing platforms are a highlight, allowing you to watch families of elephants as they wander, graze in the shade, or play in the mud pools. It’s a truly special and humbling experience.
Lunch is another standout: delicious, homemade Thai food served while you relax and take in the surroundings. The sanctuary is also home to rescued cats, dogs, and even wild boar—making it a haven for animal lovers.
