The Brighton Bathing Boxes are certainly iconic and make for a colourful photo opportunity. 📸🌈 If you're visiting Melbourne for the first time, I can understand why they're on many people's must-see lists.
That said, it just wasn't really my thing. 🤷♀️ The area felt very much like a tourist attraction rather than a destination in its own right, and there wasn't a lot to do beyond taking photos of the bathing boxes and enjoying the beach.
It also felt like there was a bit of tension between the steady stream of tourists and the local community. 🏖️ Many of the bathing boxes are privately owned, and the atmosphere sometimes felt like visitors were tolerated rather than welcomed.
The beach itself is pleasant, and the colourful boxes are undeniably photogenic, but overall I found the experience a little underwhelming compared to some of Melbourne's other attractions.
Worth seeing if you're nearby and want the photo, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. 📷
