Adventure day in Khao Sok

点评：After spending an afternoon at the adjoining Rita’s salon being pampered for my birthday, we booked an all inclusive adventure day of tubing on the river and sightseeing in Khao Sok (a dip at a waterfall and hot springs (way too hot at 45 degrees), fed monkeys, took photos at a Buddha statue, had lunch and bamboo coffee). This was the R2 program without the jungle walk (subbed in the hot springs because the kids didn’t want to walk. I would drop the hot springs in the future).
We were a party of nine (aged between 10 and 43) so they kindly arranged for a private tour which meant we had a minivan to ourselves and could go at our own pace. The driver and tour guide were both friendly and knowledgeable. The service was great and I appreciate being able to adapt the activities depending on the weather and the abilities of those in the party (we had four kids aged between 10 and 14).
Bewty, our tour organiser, went above and beyond to ensure the experience for myself, family and friends was faultless, much appreciated. We had to reschedule our tour owing to the rain which was no problem for the tour company but I understand the tour operator was less amenable to changes and kept the tour running despite the awful weather. I appreciate Bewty pushing back to ensure we had better weather conditions before heading out for the day. This meant we were able to go on a much sunnier day where the rain miraculously cleared up and the sun shone.
In addition, Bewty gladly, and unbeknownst to me, arranged a birthday cake for our dinner that night. I heard it was her day off but she still went out of her way to pick up the cake and dropped it off to our resort in Khao Lak…adorable!
Would use this tour company again.
P.S. I did feed back to Bewty, that the tubing company need to be better with providing instructions to novices like us. A safety briefing at least would help prevent some from getting snagged by branches. Some instructions on how to finish the ride would be good too. We eventually worked out that you have to grab the rope and pull yourself onto the river bed. Depending on the current, this might need a bit of muscle. We were totally fine and the river was relatively calm considering the downpour of rain in the preceding days. However, I felt the need to tether myself to my 10 year to avoid him getting swept away and snagged by branches. My 13 year old managed all on his own with no issues.
