We visited the crystal mining site at 41 Cherokee Mine Road, which is advertised as a dog-friendly location. Unfortunately, our experience raised serious safety concerns.
When we arrived at the public parking area, several dogs were roaming freely off leash. Multiple dogs approached us quickly, and during a brief interaction, our leashed dog sustained an injury to the nose that required veterinary care.
The situation was very stressful, and we were particularly concerned that the dogs in the parking area were not under visible control. For visitors bringing their own dogs, this created an environment that felt unpredictable and unsafe.
We understand that dogs may be part of the property, but clearer supervision and control would make a significant difference for guest safety.
If you are planning to visit with your dog, we would strongly recommend exercising caution.
