点评:Monday 5th May we visited Osaka Castle and it's Main Tower as part of an organised Tour.
Once we had completed the visit to the Main Tower of the Castle we were free to spend some time exploring the landmarks, points of interest and sights within the Park.
One of the most colourful spectacles was the Castle's garden pool, surrounded by a plethora of flowering bushes and shrubs with the Tower behind it. The Pool has been reviewed separately.
We stopped to look in wonder at the huge stones by the Sakuramon Gate and question how did they get there.
Another feature, a bit of an oddity, that we visited was the Expo 1979 Time Capsule.
There were an number of smaller statues and monuments dotted around the grounds including one marking the place where Hideyori Toyotomi and Yodo-dono committed suicide. She was second wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Hideyori was their son. They took their lives in the Castle during the siege of Osaka in 1615.
We also took a stroll through the Plum Grove along the East Outer Moat. At the time of our visit there were no blossoms or fruit. It was rather busy as there were a large number of bird watchers and the long lensed cameras around the place.
Also in the Park is the Hokoku Shrine which we also visited and is reviewed separately.
The Park is also home to the Miraiza Museum.
