A Dog's Delight (well almost)
Holywell Dene的点评
点评：We visited Holywell Dene on a cold and blustery March weekend and were grateful for the mainly sheltered walks provided along the river and through the woods.
Coming into the Dene from Seaton Sluice, whilst there is a public car park, it takes only 4 cars, 6 at a pinch, and so you will have to be finding on street parking within the village (not sure how the residents feel about that!) and then take the short walk to the starting point.
The path is well maintained and goes off at all sorts of tangents, giving multiple options for walking either high up in the Dene or down by the river. There are steps, some built but others just created from the pathway with edges to them and some steep climbs, tree roots, pot holes etc; all quite natural but perhaps not for those with mobility issues.
At one point local teenagers had created a BMX/Mountain Bike circuit which looked great fun.
This walk is very popular with walkers and dog owners alike but the paths are wide enough for passing and there are spots where well behaved dogs can take a run around and access the water, if they are so inclined and are allowed to do so.
So why not all five stars?
We walked in an out, turn around and then back again, direction and there was a distinct lack of bins for disposing of poop bags. Our daughter carried a bag for about 40 minutes and then trekked off to pop the bag in a bin, having seen one at a distance, but other dog owners were clearly not so dedicated as we saw multiple bags hanging from trees, discarded on the ground or at the base of trees.
Of course this is always a balance, if you provide bins then you also have to employ someone to empty them but it did prove something of an eyesore.

当地青少年曾经在这里建了一条小轮车/山地自行车赛道，看起来非常有趣。
这条步道深受散步者和遛狗人士的喜爱，路面宽敞，足以错身而过，而且沿途还有一些地方可以让乖狗狗尽情奔跑，如果它们愿意并且被允许的话，还可以去喝水。
那么，为什么不是五星好评呢？
我们走了一圈，折返，然后又原路返回，发现沿途明显缺少用于丢弃狗粪袋的垃圾桶。我们的女儿拿着一个袋子走了大约40分钟，然后才走到远处看到一个垃圾桶，把袋子扔了进去。但其他狗主人显然没有那么用心，我们看到很多狗粪袋挂在树上，或者随意丢弃在地上或树根下。
当然，这总是需要权衡的，如果你提供了垃圾桶，就必须雇人来清理，但这确实有点碍眼。
