A good time in Whitby with a good hotel

点评：Visit to Whitby for 4 nights was excellent hotel was welcoming and our room was spotlessly clean. All staff in hotel were very accommodating and helpful including the free toothbrushes and paste as we forgot ours. Would go back to the Royal in Whitby and ask for same room with great views over to the abbey. The food was mostly ok and the evening menu choice I didn’t like was able to get an omelette which I was pleased with. The self serve breakfast was hot with hot plates and porridge was available if you asked. The pastries were full size rather than the tiny ones that are usually dry elsewhere and the quality of bacon and sausage etc was good.
The trip out to Bridlington and Scarborough on the same day was okay and just not enough time in either which was a little disappointing to be honest but the driver could only do what the schedule said. Schedule if repeated needs changing. We had a good day out on North Yorks Moors Railway with Steam. This we did on one of our free days.
Alan the driver gave us a good 2 hours in Pickering on the way for the Monday Marjet day which was a suprise and greatly valued by the passengers also a stop in Goathland ( heartbeat country) on the way home. All was enhanced by the glorious weather we had all week. Whitby is a great place to explore and the Abbey is amazing with a good cafe in the Youth Hostel adjoining. This we also did in our own time and was very worthwhile.
Would do the holiday again if the trips out were different and longer Maybe A day in Scarborough which has a lot to offer and Eden camp would be great for the interest and accessibility it’s on the flat.
Alan driver needs to be commended for his thoughtfulness throughout the trip.

机车司机艾伦在周一的“玛杰特日”行程途中，特意让火车在皮克林停留了两个小时，这一安排令乘客们惊喜不已且倍感珍惜。返程时，火车还在戈斯兰德（即《心跳漏一拍》的拍摄地）稍作停留。整个行程更因整个星期都晴空万里而增色不少。惠特比是个非常适合游览的好地方，那里的修道院更是令人叹为观止；旁边的青年旅舍里还有一家很不错的咖啡馆。我们在自己旅行时也这么做了，效果非常好。
如果外出游览的行程能有所不同且时间更长些，我们还会再参加这样的假期活动。比如可以在斯卡伯勒逗留一天——那里有很多值得游览的地方；而埃登营地也是个不错的选择，那里环境平坦，便于游览且很有趣味性。
整个旅途中，司机艾伦处处体贴入微，实在值得称赞。
