点评:We really enjoyed visiting Overlap Stone. The views were amazing and it was a short, enjoyable walk to the top. It was 200 baht per person to walk onto the stone, which was reasonable.
There was also an option to feed elephants, which we did not participate in. This was not there when we visited in 2021.
While walking up, however, we heard a worker shouting and chains jingling. We looked over and saw two baby elephants in a very small confined area, tied up with chains. It was very upsetting to see. On the way back down, we could again hear the worker shouting at the elephants.
I asked the lady at the desk why they were chained, and she said it was because they were babies and fought. Having read other reviews mentioning the elephants being chained, I was sceptical of this explanation.
I’ve attached a photo, zoomed in to show the chain around one elephant’s leg.
The viewpoint itself is beautiful, but I would recommend avoiding the elephant experience and choosing a more ethical sanctuary on Koh Samui.
