点评:We love visiting the gardens at Bayou Bend. We usually do the tour as part of the Azalea Trail, but it can get crowded, so this year we came a couple of weeks later and practically had this beautiful place to ourselves. We bought our tickets for $7.50 each at the building on Memorial Drive and then drove down the driveway to the gardens. You enter the property by crossing a large swinging bridge over the muddy bayou. Parking is free. March is the perfect time to visit; everything was a gorgeous shade of green, and the azaleas in many different colors were in bloom. I love how there are classically designed symmetrical gardens, as well as more natural pathways covered by trees. There's a very pretty landscaped area that has azaleas in the shape of a butterfly, a beautiful huge green lawn with cascading steps, small ravines, pretty fountains, Greek statues - it seems that around every corner there's another delightful surprise. This place is really a hidden oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Houston. We've toured the Hogg mansion previously so didn't do that on this visit, but if you've never been before it's worth seeing and full of traditional American art and antique furniture. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy nature and want a beautiful little escape from the city.
