Acoma Pueblo Sky City的点评
点评：Our visit to the Acoma Pueblo Sky City Cultural Center was a last minute back up plan as the Kashe-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument was closed due to recent flash flood damage. We checked online the night before we anticipated to visit Acoma Pueblo Sky City Cultural Center and they were scheduled to be open the following day with guided tours. Upon arrival there at 9a.m., the entrance door was open but there was a sign posted at the front desk stating that "Tours to the Mesa Top were cancelled for the day." The only other option was to purchase the Virtual permit for $19 per person which allowed viewing of a film on the Acoma Pueblo Sky City and question/answer talk following the film viewing along with a visit to the museum and the parking space. The museum actually did a great job to provide photos of the pueblo and the trail that leads up to the pueblo.
We continued our visit to the back of the culture center where there were some local vendors selling their handicraft work.
It was a manageable visit and we made the best of the situation as there were no other options after driving all the way from Albuquerque.
Before you depart the area, after you leave the parking lot, make sure you take a look back at the view of the mesa top where the Acoma pueblos are located.
Make sure you do check on their opening hours the night before planning to visit and also, be prepared if they need to cancel the guided tours last minute. That is their policy as it is an active living community and if any emergency arises, the pueblo is closed to the general public. I am sure it is well worth to take a guided tour of the Acoma Pueblo mesa top.
