Great walk between observation decks
屋岛的点评
点评：There are several observation decks which are linked by a paved trail which encircles much of the mountain top. The overall walkway is only about 1 or 2 km long, and it was worthwhile to make the complete tour to visit all of them. The crowds concentrate at the main observation deck; once away from that, it is quite quiet. Also, the view over the inland sea to the east and west is very beautiful (including the Seto Ohashi bridge in the distance), but you have to walk further north than the main observation deck in order to see that.
The Yashima-ji temple is also a worthwhile visit while you are up here.
I took the shuttle bus up from the Kotoden-Yashima station; that worked very well, and was cheap (about 200 yen). Be sure to check the schedule posted at the upper parking lot for buses down, however. They are spaced out about one hour apart. In summer they continue into the evening, but for much of the year the last one down is before 5 PM, so be sure not to miss it.
