点评：We loved watching Bruce's YouTube video's on Scotland's History, and when we learned that he offered History Tours throughout Scotland we knew we had to book with him. He is exactly the same in person as he is on YouTube-brilliant, funny, supremely informed, and he loves to share what he knows. We coordinated a custom tour to visit places of interest that didn't fall within the parameters of his standard tours. I did notice that his "MacBeth" tour he included the Innerpeffrey Library, the first public lending library in Scotland, founded circa 1683. This library was one of the major highlights of the many sights we visited in Scotland. It holds the original ledger with names of borrowers and the books checked out by them from the community. In those years, people were learning to read the Bible as a result of the Reformation. The man who established the library knew that if you could read the Bible, that you could read, and to encourage that, he donated 500 of his own books to start the library. Many of the fascinating books of the time are on display. In addition to the pre-selected locations, Bruce added in some stops that illustrated the context of the origins of Scotland. He delights in sharing his extensive knowledge of Scotland and easily engages in conversation and answers questions. While at Dunfermline, he was approached affectionately by two different people who recognized him from YouTube. He greeted them graciously, chatted with them for a bit, took pictures with them, and cemented his fan base! He is gracious and delightful, fun to be with. You will never get as much out of visiting Scotland's historic locations if you try to do them on your own. Bruce will make any tour a much more meaningful, and fun, experience.
