点评:An unexpected gem! We visited in early July during peak tourist season, and since this was our second trip to Kyoto, I knew the Bamboo Grove would be packed with people.
For a very inexpensive entry fee, we found this peaceful private garden in addition to. There were only a handful of other people walking around, and honestly, I thought it was even more beautiful than the Bamboo Grove.
There were moss gardens, shrines, stunning views of the city, quiet walking paths, and all kinds of plants, hidden corners, and little nooks to explore. There was even a community area with free ice-cold water and shaded tables to escape the blazing summer sun.
Had it not been so incredibly hot, I could have wandered these gardens for hours.
At the bottom of the garden is a short walk to the famous Bamboo Grove, so if you’re already going there, don’t skip this place. It’s well worth the small entry fee, and I think you’ll enjoy it just as much—if not more—than its much more crowded neighbor.
