A very nice excursion on a beautiful mountain

点评：We booked a private tasting and guided tour at Rhumerie de Chamarel, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience. Our guide was a woman who had worked there almost since the distillery opened 15 years ago (in 2008), and her knowledge and passion really made the visit special. Since we came in January, the sugarcane harvest had already ended for the season, so the production was quieter and more focused on maintenance.
The whole area was beautiful located up in the mountains, surrounded by lush greenery and palm trees. During the private tasting we were served a beautifully arranged charcuterie board, which made the experience feel even more exclusive. We got to try around 15–20 different types of rum, and our favorites were the spiced, the vanilla, and the coffee rum.
The only slightly tricky part was the booking process. It was a bit difficult to figure out how to book through their website, so in the end we arranged everything via email — which worked smoothly once we got in touch.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable excursion and absolutely worth the trip.
