点评：A truly outstanding heritage experience that punches well above its weight. From the moment you arrive, the impression is a positive one, the building is modern, well-designed, and welcoming, setting the tone for what turns out to be an exceptionally well-run attraction.
The highlight, without question, is the underground tour itself. We were fortunate to have Eamon as our guide, a man who didn't just learn about the mine from books but worked it. That lived experience transforms the tour entirely. His stories, knowledge, and obvious passion for the place make the history feel immediate and personal in a way that a standard guide simply couldn't replicate. It is well-paced, informative, and genuinely moving at times.
The staff throughout were warm and friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. The gift shop is fabulous, well-stocked with quality items that feel connected to the place, and the café is a real bonus. The menu has a great range of vegetarian options, and non-dairy milk is available for your coffee/tea, which is a thoughtful touch that not all visitor attractions get right.
Excellent value for money. This is the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave and is worth going out of your way to visit.
One important tip: the mine is cold, genuinely cold, regardless of the weather outside. Wear warm layers and closed-in footwear. You'll thank yourself underground
