The Museum has Natural area that are open to the public with no fee
Cleveland Museum of Natural History的点评
点评:The Cleveland Museum of Natural History has done a great job with their facelift. The feel is more open and airier. There are plenty of reviews for it and I agree it is worth a visit if you have not been there in the last year or so.
I want to talk about their natural areas. The museum owns and protects almost 13,000 acres of wetlands and sensitive habitats across northeast Ohio. These areas extend the footprint of the museum. Three of those areas are open to the public. There is a property on Kelly’s Island that has access to a beach area. Another property is North Kingsville Sand Barrens in Ashtabula County. This is one of the last intact sand barrens in the area. This was the shore for an ancient ocean. The other is the Mentor Marsh which is coming off a multi-year restoration effort. There are trails for hiking and this is a haven for birdwatchers as the restored wetlands attract water birds. All three of these natural areas are free to visit and I highly recommend all three.
