点评：We visited Sannoiwa Rocks in Oct 2025, when our cruise ship docked at Fujiwara Pier. There were already a couple of tour groups that had arrived by bus at the overlook, which is just off the road, and the views from the parking lot level pathway were not the best, as there are trees blocking most of the viewing spots. So, with the crowds and the obscured views, our first impressions were not great.
However, at our first stop of the day at nearby Jodogahama Beach, a helpful docent advised us to have our taxi driver drop us off at the top and then pick us up at the bottom, as there is a fairly steep path leading down to the water and an up-close view of the rocks. None of the bus tour folks were venturing down the path so we had the trail all to ourselves, and as it was a clear sunny day, the views were amazing.
If you're in decent shape, the hike down and back up should be doable, probably no more than 10 minutes down and probably twice the time to come back up. If it's a nice sunny day, definitely worthwhile. If you come by cab as we did, you can have the driver pick you up at the parking area at the bottom of the trail, which allows you to avoid the walk back up the steep hill. The tricky part is how to instruct the driver to do this. We lucked out as the docents at Jodogahama Beach not only called a cab for us, but also instructed the driver on exactly what to do.
The drive directly to Sannoiwa Rocks is about 30 minutes from the cruise ship pier, and if you ask the driver to wait for you at the bottom, it adds to your tab. Our fare, which was from Jodogahama Beach to Sannoiwa Rocks and then Fujiwara Pier, was a bit over $100. Well worth it but be sure you have enough cash or that your taxi will take payment via credit card.
