A day well spent among gentle creatures and their caregivers

For us, on a visit to Sri Lanka, it was an unplanned detour which turned out to be a truly beautiful and eye-opening experience. Seeing these gentle creatures away from their natural habitat- being cared for by the Conservatory because were injured disabked - simply because we,as humans, continue to hurt them and destroy their naural habitat, was truly an eye opener. We were made to realise just how much our everyday actions can affect such harmless creatures. Plastic pollution and rubbish in the ocean sometimes are ingested by theses turtles who then slowly die or , as we saw in one case, lose the inability to dive into the waters and are condemned to float on the surface, exposed to predators, unable to escape or camouflage
Our guide, Sithum, explained the conservation efforts here with real care and clarity, which made the visit all the more meaningful.
A memorable experience for any nature-loving traveller—I’d happily recommend it. Cheers
