点评:It started with a facebook post for the DeVries Fine Art International sculpture trail deep in the Berkshires. Despite the fact that WAZE took us down a couple miles or more of sketchy gravel one-lane roads, we persisted. (Had we come in from the other direction, it would have been paved all the way!)
Andrew's wife Patricia was outside when we arrived and she cordially invited us into the gallery.
Andrew was working on a piece in the back room, but quickly came out to greet us. They are a delightful couple and we enjoyed talkng with them, hearing about his work and his journey, along with the back stories of various sculptures of his.
We immersed ourselves in the half-mile nature trail with some 45 sculputres, interspersed with poems by the likes of Mary Oliver, Robert Frost, Kahlil Gibran, Shel Silverstein, and others. The trail wanders along a river and is lined with beautiful oak trees.
Andrew has crafted a number of wooden benches from salvaged trees from his property where visitors can sit and absorb nature's beauty and the inspiration of Andrew's work.
When we returned to the studio, I shared with Andrew that what we had just experienced was like going to church, only better!
We cannot highly enough recommend visiting the gallery, walk the sculpture trail and visiting with Andrew and Patricia.
There is no entry fee, and we spent a little over two hours.
We were the only guests in the gallery when we arrived, though a few people were out on the trail.
