Woodchester Valley Vineyard的点评
点评：What a glorious day out at the Woodchester Valley Vineyard Premium wine tasting! Just the journey through the gorgeous Slad Valley from Cheltenham in the winter sunshine was uplifting as is the setting of the vineyard.
Some really superb wines. The 2023 Orpheus Bacchus was the best Bacchus I’ve tasted (& I’ve tasted a few). Both the sparkling Rosé and Special reserve were delightful and the nibbles to accompany really carefully chosen to enhance the taste experience.
And something I never thought I’d say…an English red that I liked. A 2023 Pinot Précoce. Elegant.
And they have made a Verjus that I use in cooking (fennel, lemon, pea and mint risotto and also chicken with a lemon, herb and caper sauce).
We did not try the gold medal Sauvignon blanc but I bought a bottle out of curiosity about a wine that has won an International Gold in a 60 Sauvignon blanc blind wine tasting.
I would, for choice, go for the Premium package over the standard as it offers some of their better wines.
A big shout out to Diana who did a terrific job leading the presentation and tour. That’s a person whose heart and soul is in the job.
She really emphasised that when they came to making wine they chose quality over quantity every time and it shows in the product.
If you decide to go but don’t want to drive, for obvious reasons, I can recommend Wonky Wheels for a people carrier sized taxi.
I’ve joined the Woodchester Valley wine club as I admire their chutzpah in this local adventure and expanding venture plus emphasis on quality over quantity…and want to try and support it. It started with just 1 acre and it takes 3 years for vines to produce any grapes for harvest. That’s commitment. Now it has 3 sites and a hugely expanded acreage…but not too fast for quality to be compromised.
Every single one of our party of 6 said they had an absolutely fantastic day and every single one said what a star Diana is.
