We joined the Boato Tour, a 4-hour boat trip (10am–2pm) around the Pula coast for €35. It was a very pleasant experience on a small, intimate boat – not too crowded, with space to relax and enjoy the view. You could even sit on the top deck when the sun came out!
🗺️ Stops during the trip:
We made three swimming stops:
1. Otok Kotež – the boat stayed near the coast (no docking).
2. Štinjanska Uvala – again, the boat didn’t dock, so you had to swim from the boat to shore.
3. Northern Stoja – here, the boat actually docked, and you could walk on land to visit the old military base and see a sunken ship underwater, which was a highlight for snorkelers.
⛵ Note: Only one of the stops was docked. For the other two, the boat remained close to the shore, so you’ll need to be comfortable jumping in and swimming. It's fun, but not ideal for everyone.
🔄 The route itself was nice, but it didn’t make a full circle of the islands – it went partway and returned along the same path. A complete loop would have made the tour even more exciting.
⏰ One suggestion: during swimming breaks, it would be clearer to say, for example, “we’ll leave at 11:30” instead of just “30 minutes” – it helps everyone keep track of time better.
✅ Tips:
Bring snorkeling gear! The underwater ship is worth seeing.
A towel or light jacket is useful if it’s windy.
Arrive 15–20 minutes early for a better seat on the upper deck.
Overall, it’s a lovely and peaceful way to explore the Pula coast, with unique stops and a local vibe. A couple of small tweaks would make it perfect!
