点评：Mauro and I spent the afternoon wandering the ‘back streets’ of Palermo, rarely seen by tourist. I had asked for a unique tour- I didn’t want to see the sites, I wanted to see ‘the real Palermo’. I was not disappointed. Mauro’s historical knowledge was well explained to me and reinforced through building styles and historical reference. I saw neighbourhoods waiting for gentrification, tiny restaurants only locals visit, 4’ long Sicilian Zucchini used in soup Mauro’s mother makes, and a super unique coffee shop tucked away in a blacksmiths stall from many many years ago. I was staying just 200m from it but didn’t know it existed.
If you want to see the hot spots and get your photo, contact a big tour company, but if you want a great afternoon seeing unbelievable sites and learning something about the evolution of Palermo Mauro is the best guide around!
