点评：I had a very disappointing experience with Burnham Cars yesterday.
My driver, Imran, driving a white Mercedes CLA 250 (registration YK71 ODW), attempted to charge me more than the fare I had booked through the Burnham Cars app.
My confirmed fare in the app was £22.50. When we arrived at my destination, I noticed him enter £24.50 into his payment device. I questioned it and told him the fare was £22.50. He then entered the fare amount again. Before paying, something prompted me to ask him to show me the screen a second time, and this time he had entered £23.50.
I again told him the fare was £22.50. He then checked the taxi’s journey monitor and claimed it showed £23.50. I showed him my booking in the Burnham Cars app, which clearly displayed the agreed fare of £22.50.
What concerns me most is that if his monitor genuinely showed £23.50, why did he initially try to charge £24.50? Even after I corrected him once, he still attempted to charge more than the agreed fare. That is extremely concerning.
I worry that this could happen to vulnerable customers or people who may not feel confident challenging the amount they’re being asked to pay. Whether this was an honest mistake or something else, it undermines trust in the service and reflects poorly on Burnham Cars.
I hope the company investigates this incident and takes appropriate action to ensure other customers don’t have a similar experience.
