点评：This is a world class aviation museum. It specialises in restoring and preserving mainly Australian aircraft - both military and civil. The HARS group operate the museum at Shell Harbour Airport, about two hours train ride from Sydney CBD. There is a railway station handy to the museum. The museum houses aircraft under hangers and out on the hard stand. They run hourly tours of the facility and aircraft - mainly by ex Qantas staff. The tour gives an inside view to the famous record breaking Qantas B747-400, a Lockheed Constellation, and several airforce jets. The tour includes a walk around two large hangers containing over 50 aeroplanes. Entry to the museum costs $30 and less for Seniors. They have a bookshop and a nice Cafe. On weekends they roll out several aircraft for engine starts, as well as flying displays of old warriors.
For the aircraft enthusiast this is a great visit. Allow at least 4 hours to cover all the aircraft.
If you don’t want Pleasant two hour $7.80 train trip, then vehicle access from Sydney is easy and there is free onsite parking. The newest aircraft to arrive is the famous Qantas Boeing 707 donated by John Travolta to the museum. This aircraft famously promoted Qantas overseas as Travolta acted as ambassador.
For the aircraft enthusiast this is a great visit. Allow at least 4 hours to cover all the aircraft.
