Not safe, guide did not take care - don‘t go there!
We booked the 2.5-hour mudflat walk as a family with two children (8 and 10 years old). The company’s website states that this tour is suitable for children from 6 years onwards, so we expected a family-friendly experience with appropriate guidance and safety instructions.
Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite.
The guide spoke only Dutch throughout the tour. There was no safety briefing or practical instructions in English, despite the fact that there were international participants. On their website and in their terms, participants are instructed to follow the guide at all times. However, this is impossible if you do not understand the instructions.
Once we entered the mudflats, the guide maintained a very fast pace and quickly moved far ahead of our family. There was no effort to check whether everyone, especially the children, could safely keep up.
When we reached several deep muddy channels, our children were unable to cross safely and became frightened and panicked. The guide did not stop to assist us or ensure we could continue safely. We therefore had no choice but to abandon the tour and return on our own.
Afterwards, we contacted the company, explained our concerns, and requested a refund. The request was declined.
We understand that wadlopen is a natural outdoor activity and that participants are responsible for their own fitness. However, if a tour is advertised as suitable for children from the age of six, we believe families should receive basic safety instructions in a language they understand and guides should ensure that children are not left behind in potentially hazardous conditions.
Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this tour to families with children or to international visitors who do not speak Dutch.

我们理解漂流是一项自然的户外活动，参与者需要对自身的健康状况负责。但是，如果一项旅行活动宣传适合六岁及以上的儿童，我们认为，旅行社应该用儿童能够理解的语言向他们提供基本的安全须知，并且导游应该确保儿童不会被留在潜在的危险环境中。
根据我们的经验，我们不建议有孩子的家庭或不会说荷兰语的国际游客参加这项旅行。
