点评:A must see in Kigali is the genocide museum. It’s a very sad place but tries to explain how and why the genocide happened. We had only an hour to cover it, but we would have liked more time there. The exhibits are written in multiple languages so we were glad that we didn’t rent the audio tour. We just made a substantial donation to support the museum.
Once again, what happened illustrates man’s inhumanity to man. It’s just so hard to understand how neighbors turned on neighbors, just like they did in Germany during the Holocaust. It’s a lesson about indoctrination and hate and could happen in America based on the unhealthy political climate. Hopefully, citizens of our country would rise up and stop the hate, but I imagine the people of Rwanda didn’t expect neighbors would attack and kill their neighbors with machetes either, sometimes murdering the godparents of their children and innocent kids. Hard to believe and completely impossible to accept.
