点评:This was part of an excursion from a cruise ship, so transportation to the ropeway parking lot was provided. However, it would be possible to visit this by way of a bus from Higashi-Shizuoka train station to the ropeway parking lot (once per hour for the bus). Some of the other local train stations also have buses running to the ropeway parking lot.
Somewhat unusually, the shrine complex is built on a hillside, in the forest. (Most I saw elsewhere in Japan were on flat areas, and were surrounded by gardens). The ropeway to the shrine takes you quite a ways downhill - and then you make up some of that elevation loss on the ropeway by climbing up many stairs to see the various buildings within the shrine complex! However, there are railings for most stairs.
Many of the buildings have really beautiful wood carving and painting.
There are some descriptive signs. Also, don't miss the viewing terrace by the entrance to the shrine complex; it gives beautiful views over the Shizuoka coastline.
