点评:Visited here for the first time to see Angine de Poitrine, and as a wheelchair user I was unsure what to expect. The venue itself was okay but the thing that made this a five star experience was the staff. Every single person I interacted with went out of their way to be helpful, pleasant and friendly.
The venue has a lot of stairs so the accessible entrance is round at the side of the building. The pavements were cracked and uneven, and it was poorly lit, but we were accompanied by a member of staff who guided us the whole way and helped hold doors etc. The ramp into the main arena is quite steep but my power chair handled it no problem.
The wheelchair area was on a small mezzanine area and had spaces with benches beside them for carers and companions to sit. It was very central and would have been ideal if there hadn't been a metal railing along the front of it at exactly eye level for anyone in a wheelchair! I couldn't see a thing unless I crouched down or stretched up! It was zigzagged at different levels, so my companion was able to see just fine as his section had a lower railing, but at every single wheelchair space the level was too high!
The mezzanine was not exclusive to disabled people, once the wheelchair users were placed there people were allowed to fill in the gaps so I had a wall of people standing an inch behind me. There was apparently an accessible toilet but I didn't even try to find it, the place was absolutely jam packed and moving was out of the question.
The bar was very expensive and bizarrely when we bought 2 bottles of water they insisted on decanting them into 2 plastic glasses which we then had to carry for the rest of the night because there were no tables or anywhere suitable to put them down. Not sure why this is a rule, having the bottle would have been much easier and would have avoided spillage. Given the state of the floor at the end of the night, everyone else was having the same issues.
That said, it was an awesome concert and everyone around me was very respectful of my space so I didn't feel overwhelmed or claustrophobic, but not having a sight line to the stage was very frustrating, especially as it was such a visual concert. I enjoyed the event but I don't think I would visit the venue again for that reason.
Shout out in particular to Robert, one of the events staff, who came and found me after the concert and gave me an umbrella to keep me and my wheelchair dry while we waited for our taxi home. Definitely going the extra mile, as did all of the staff.
