The calm and crystal clear turquoise water here is mesmerizing
竹富岛Kondoi海滩的点评
点评：We'd never seen seawater so calm, clear and still before --- almost no waves at all till as far as our eyes could see, and the water was so shallow and crystal clear that it almost looked like an artificial lake. Unreal.
Then we noted that the famous sandbar roughly 100 meters from the start of the water probably acted like a natural embankment, thereby breaking the waves right there, resulting in this 100-meter stretch of extremely calm water. From afar, those walking on the barely submerged sandbar really looked like they were walking on water! So beautiful and it's probably because Taketomi's not well-known internationally.. hope it remains that way!
This is a no service beach e.g. don't see any lounge chairs or umbrellas for rent, so you'll have to bring your own if you wanna stay a little longer. They do have a rather small, old but clean public toilet somewhere near the entrance, where there is also a bus stop for the island's shuttle bus that stops by every 20 to 30 minutes? We just walked it since it's just a 30-minute walk from here to Taketomi Island Ferry Terminal. It's also about a 15-minute walk either way to Kaiji Beach (South) or Nishi pier (North).
