Expensive crowded commercial experience
Veragua Rainforest Park的点评
点评：We visited Veragua Park as part of a cruise ship excursion from the port of Puerto Limon. The entrance road is rough but the bus was comfortable enough.
The guide in the park was informative without being over-the-top. The park was busy so we ddi feel we were always being moved along to a schedule. I would have preferred longer to look at the wildlife.
The boardwalks and paths are ,mainly easy to negotiate, but this covers mainly captive fauna. The butterfly house was extremely warm. We saw some wild species including snakes, spiders, and monkeys. The guide helped us spot creatures and also pointed out where there could be danger.
The short cable car ride in the treetops took us down to the river. It is a reasonable but not great short ride. Walking to the waterfall is on uneven paths with steps but there are hand rails and it was not a challenging walk and only 300 metres or so. There were lots of people, so it was difficult to photograph the waterfall. It is quite small and there was little flow in the river.
Our trip included lunch in the on-site cafe and this was reasonable with a vegetarian option. There were toilets at the entrance and in the butterfly house. There are longer "hiking" trails but these need to be arranged with a guide.
This was an expensive commercial experience fitting with a cruise shift agenda. We enjoyed it but if we were travelling independently we would look to visit a different eco park.
