点评：Albe Vecchia is one of the many villages in the Marsica region, which have been abandoned after the deadly 1915 earthquake. However, it's more visited than others ruins because it's adjacent to two primary attractions: the Roman ruins of Alba Fucens and the Romanesque church of San Pietro.
A settlement descending from the decayed and abandoned Roman city of Alba Fucens — lies further down — Albe Vecchia is now reduced to a total ruin. More substantial remaining walls are those of the Orsini Castle (named after the powerful family whose jurisdiction once extended to other lands in the region, such as Tagliacozzo, Sgurgola, and Avezzano). Among the other buildings, mostly only remains of the ground floor survive. However, they extend over a considerable area: it was clearly a relevant settlement, which is worth exploring for a while.
The site is highly scenic, perched on a high spur overlooking the basin of the former Fucino Lake, with the nearby, imposing Mount Velino as a solemn backdrop.
