点评：How was Capture Africa Tours: Foster & Orphan Elephant Safari? Wonderful! Great! Fabulous! Delightful! Educational! A return visit is on my future travel short list! Dick expertly answered my questions before the trip, so I anticipated a great trip. I was not disappointed.
I had read about the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s extensive efforts to support Kenyan wildlife. I appreciate them so much more after seeing their efforts up close. The keepers know each orphaned elephant by name and each elephant’s personality. The keepers and elephants, both those under care now and those who have merged into wild herds, have a bond that must be seen to truly be appreciated. Who knew a mischievous elephant would correct its behavior following a keeper’s tongue click and a pointing finger? Who knew a rewilded orphan would return to show off its offspring or bring a wild elephant for medical care? Ahh, and how the elephants love their bottles, water and mud!
Our Capture Africa Tours driver-guides, Henry and Julius, provided valuable facts and insights. They had keen eyes to spot wildlife and knew the most likely locations to search. Most importantly, they were constantly keeping an eye on us. This means they resolved potential issues long before they became issues; e.g., reminding us to keep our arms inside the vehicle and that Eddie was a wild elephant who could quickly change our day—i.e., don’t get too close.
