点评:The red Desert a few kms of the main road -beware pot holes on the way.
having read about this desert we had to have a look.
According to the write ups this is considered the smallest desert in the world! 200m in diameter. It was formed in the 1800's due to over grazing of cattle by Zulu tribes and then by wind erosion. there has been some native artefacts found in the desert among the sand dunes and include picks, rough hand axes, choppers, flakes etc. They say it looks like a mini Arizona because of the red sand hills. Its now a protected heritage site and fenced off , if I remember correctly there is a gate keeper and he charges you R50per adult and R25 per child to get in.
Is it worth it yes if your over the beach and looking for something different and you can boast you've been to the smallest desert in the world!
