A Truly Outstanding Luxury Island Retreat

点评：We recently stayed at Raasay Distillery and had an absolutely amazing experience. Even though the weather wasn't at its best, that's all part of visiting Scotland in September, and it certainly didn't detract from our stay!
The island itself is beautiful, and the views are simply out of this world. Looking across to Skye and the Cuillin mountains is spectacular, and no matter where you are on the property, you're surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
We spent one night in the distillery building and another in one of the Bothains. Both were beautifully decorated and very comfortable, but the Bothain was exceptional. Finished to an incredibly high standard, it felt like a luxurious private retreat. The thoughtful touches were everywhere, from Highland Soap toiletries and complimentary tea, coffee and water, to whisky, gin and even alcohol-free gin. There was even a hot water bottle provided for extra comfort. Guests can have a breakfast hamper delivered directly to the Bothain, making the experience even more special.
The standout feature of the Bothain has to be the floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the Cuillins. There's a remote-operated blind that doubles as a projector screen for watching TV, but honestly, why would you want to hide a view like that?
The food throughout our stay was superb. Breakfast featured high-quality local Scottish ingredients and set us up perfectly for the day ahead. We also enjoyed lunch and dinner in the restaurant, where every meal was delicious. A special mention has to go to the desserts, which were absolutely fantastic.
The staff could not have been more helpful. Every member of the team was friendly, welcoming and genuinely keen to ensure guests made the most of their stay. Nothing felt like too much trouble.
The distillery tour was another highlight. Hollie gave us a wonderful welcome, complete with a Raasay Gin & Tonic on arrival. She was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging, sharing the history of both the island and the distillery before explaining the distillation process, cask types and the range of whiskies available. Touring the production area was fascinating and, remarkably, even the stills seem to have some of the best views in the world! Returning to find our tasting samples already prepared was a lovely touch. Hollie's enthusiasm and passion for the whisky really enhanced the experience, and unlike some distillery tours, the tasting measures were very generous.
The entire development has been thoughtfully designed, combining the working distillery, hotel accommodation, Bothains and restaurant into a welcoming and luxurious destination. The atmosphere throughout was warm, relaxed and friendly.
One of our most memorable moments was stepping into the Bothain for the first time and seeing that incredible view through the full-length window. We enjoyed the same stunning scenery from the restaurant and were even treated to a beautiful rainbow while having breakfast on our final morning.
I would highly recommend Raasay Distillery to anyone looking for an island escape with a touch of luxury. The regular ferry service makes the island easily accessible, and once you arrive, you'll find a truly special place. We are already looking forward to returning.
