点评:I was specifically looking for a tour of a chocolate farm to learn about processing from pod to final product. I called ahead of time to make sure that this is what the tour entailed and I was told that this was a farm tour in which the entire process would be demonstrated in detail. That was not true at all. This is not a chocolate farm tour, as advertised. It’s a chocolate tasting at a minuscule farm with zero, and I mean, ZERO true demonstration of how chocolate is picked, processed or, in any way, made into the chocolate we eat. We did not see a ripe pod, a raw seed, or one step of the process other than one dried out seed. There was a tasting of five small chocolates on a covered porch at this minuscule farm. The proprietor said that his purpose is to create customers which is fine but not at almost $100 a head. This “tour” should be free and then they can sell their chocolate at their store. After an extremely brief stop at their few trees, you taste five small chocolates and then caravan to their nearby store where you see equipment which is not in use. They point out the equipment very briefly - none of it is in use and they don’t demonstrate how it works, even though there is one tour a day during which they could easily plan actual production so you can see how it’s made. Honestly, they were too lazy to do even this tiny bit of demonstration. After tasting four pea sized (not making this up, they are tiny) chocolates at their store, you are left to buy their chocolate. I can’t believe that I left my hotel to drive across the island to do this, much less pay almost $100/person. I feel totally ripped off. I want my money, but more importantly my precious Hawaiian day, back.
