Louvre Abu Dhabi is undoubtedly an impressive architectural project. The building is beautiful, and the extraordinary dome with its intricate geometric structure is fascinating. The way light filters through the roof creates a wonderful atmosphere. The architecture itself is definitely worth seeing!
However, having visited many major museums around the world, I found the collection rather limited at this stage. The exhibition spaces are enormous, with artworks displayed quite far apart, which sometimes makes the galleries feel surprisingly empty.
There are temporary exhibitions, but in my opinion, they don’t fully compensate for the relatively modest permanent collection. I expected a richer and more immersive museum experience.
What I really enjoyed was the VR experience! It was engaging and added something special to the visit.
Another highlight was the café. Sitting there, looking at the spectacular ceiling and the water, was incredibly relaxing. Honestly, I could have spent much longer simply enjoying the architecture, the reflections and the peaceful atmosphere.
For me, the building itself was more impressive than the exhibitions.
I believe this museum has enormous potential, and I hope its collections will continue to grow over the coming years. I would be interested in returning in a few years to see how it develops.
My recommendation: Visit for the architecture, the beautiful waterfront setting, the VR experience and a relaxing coffee. But if you are expecting a collection comparable in depth and variety to the world’s great museums, you may feel a little disappointed.
