点评:We ducked in here around two in the afternoon to get out of the blazing midday sun, and I ended up completely fascinated by the restoration work on the old shophouse itself. The timber floorboards upstairs creak just right under your feet, and whoever did the carpentry kept all the original joinery intact instead of replacing it with cheap modern drywall. You can stand near the shuttered front windows overlooking the street and see how the air flows through the courtyard, which made it feel so much cooler naturally. The exhibits on Ipoh's tin boom and the early Chinese settlers are spread out across these gorgeous rooms with old tools and photographs, but it was really the building's preserved architecture that made the biggest impression on me. It feels very unique compared to the standard tourist spots around town, and an hour was definitly the sweet spot to wander through without feeling rushed.
