点评:The positives: Michaelis collected us from the ferry, he does that for everyone. There is no doubt that it is one of the quietest, most peaceful places we have ever been, you can hear the waves at night. The rooms are large, as are the balconies. The balconies are very private too, we could see the sea from ours. The rooms/linen/towels are spotless, with regular changes. We were delighted to have the pool area to ourselves a lot of the time. The bus service from Eristos is frequent and reliable. Sunbeds on the beach are free for hotel guests.
The negatives: The hotel is advertised as having a bar and a mini market. Neither of these were open at any time while we were there. If you wanted a drink or a coffee you had to ask one of Michaelis' elderly relatives, he was usually out picking people up from the ferry, communication was sometimes difficult. We didn't enjoy the evening meal, we only had one during the 8 nights of our stay. Breakfast was precisely the same every day. Food is a personal thing, but we didn't think the quality was very good. There is only one other place to eat at Eristos, En Plo so we chose to eat there a few times. Mostly we went on the bus to Livadia, more choice. The pool area was never checked, we saw an empty beer bottle which had been left and it was still there 3 days later. The sunbeams by the pool and at the beach are nearly at the end of their lives, they all need replacing. Our room had a very rusty, battered air con unit on the balcony, it still worked, but some people would find that a problem. There were two sockets hanging off the wall, the patio doors didn't lock but it was so peaceful we were not overly concerned, other people might be.
We need to point out that there were many repeat customers at the hotel, so it works for some people, Michaelis is a marvel, he works so hard and is a kind and gentle man who has too much to do.
We chose a Greece that reminded us of the Greece of the 80's and 90's. It certainly did that, right down to having to mop the floor in the bathroom after a shower...and remembering to remove the toilet roll before it got wet!
To conclude: go to Tilos if you want peace and quiet. Eristos beach is the only one on the island which has dark sand as well as rocky bits. Other beaches are all pebbly.
Do use the bus, Pablos is the driver, he knows everyone on the island and delivers random things to people while he is on his route. He retires soon, so go before he does!
