点评:Elephant Seals on Northern California's Coast! We drove out to Inverness and hiked along the coast at the Point Reyes National Seashore to see the elephant seals. We started our hike at the Chimney Rock parking lot. Later, some elephant seals, in fact, were so close to another nearby parking lot we visited, that the rangers had secured the area with orange cones and striped bars and signage (see photo) to make sure that both the elephant seals and the human visitors stayed safe. A volunteer ranger drove by while we were there, and he explained that sometimes the elephant seals liked to nest in unexpected places, and that it is important to give them their space, which we happily did. We probably saw a dozen elephant seals this day. Once exiting Highway 101, I would say the drive along the winding, quite beautiful road to get to the parking area was about forty-five minutes. So, just be aware that the road twists and turns. I am very glad we went here.
