Amazing experience with the best crew (guide Ivend, skipper Kacong, cook Nilam and man for everything Reno)
Orangutan tour - Varada Borneo的点评
点评:We had the most wonderful 4days/3 nights tour on the Sekonyer River. We stopped at 3 stations/camps along the way and took a trip up one of the tributaries with a motor canoe. We saw much wildlife, including many semi wild Orang Utans at the stations but also quite a few wild ones along the way. We also saw longtail macaques, Gibbon, wild boar, crocodiles, a serpent eagle, Kingfishers, some smaller snakes and many interesting insects and spiders.
Since our crew were from the Sungai Sekonyer village along the river, we were also offered a walking tour to the village where we were invited to the parental home of our skipper and could watch his father hand manufacture a long boat.
We will never forget the experience of slowly cruising through the rainforest on the Klotok, sleeping on the deck under a mosquito net and listening to the jungle sounds and enjoying the most delicious food, freshly prepared by our cook Nilam.
What really made this experience so very special was also the interaction with our crew:
Our guide Ivend (aka Marley, aka troublemaker, aka crazy guy) is Kumai‘s only Rastaman. He has been on these trips in various roles for 17 years and knows just about everything there is to know about the Borneo rainforest and its inhabitants. I believe there are few people who are as accomplished in spotting the hidden wildlife as he is. In 4 days with Ivend we learnt more about Borneo, its nature and its culture than we could have imagined. Everything was delivered with a great sense of humour.
Our skipper Kacong was extremely competent and did everything to provide us with a good experience. It was his and his deckhand‘s (and half brothers) Reno‘s mother who invited us to her house in the village. Reno‘s smile is wonderful and very contagious. Our cook Nilam was just amazing and every meal was a real highlight.
We can strongly recommend the company and especially our crew. Thank you guys.
