Unexpected Gem off Main Street in Mesa

点评：I was surprised by the Arizona Museum of Natural History in off Main St. in Mesa. It is just steps to the Valley Metro tram. I expected a small little facility but it is not that. Covering the history of the earth from the dawn of time, probably the most compelling is the collection of dinosaur reconstructions. But there is more art and artifacts, and giant dioramas too. It reminds one of the Field Museum in Chicago, but on a much smaller scale.
You should be able to do this museum in about two hours. They often have paleontologists working in the lobby but not on the Sunday when I visited. That may add some more time to your visit. There is a free covered parking deck right behind the museum with a 3-hour limit. It is very convenient. I think both adults and children will find this museum very worthwhile and educational.
