Capstone Hill的点评
点评：Capstone Hill sits beside Wildersmouth Beach. It is the large rocky outcrop, sitting immediately on the seafront and jutting out to sea.
This was our starting point when we began exploring the town of Ilfracombe. It's a convenient starting point for many visitors because the Landmark Theatre carpark is right here and has plenty of public parking spots.
It's a very lovely, rugged coastline along this part of Devon and Capstone Hill is just one of several hills in Ilfracombe that you can climb for panoramic viewing points.
It’s a steep climb to the top, but it’s not a long one. You can also do a circular walk around the base of the hill which skirts the coast. You don’t get the elevated views but you still get very striking views. However this walkway looked to be closed when we were there (mid 2025). A local told us that there’d been some rockfalls and that it was closed while netting was being put in place.
Later, when we were down by the harbour, we climbed Lantern Hill instead. It also has panoramic views towards Lundy Island and back over the town so we didn’t miss out altogether.
