Great time for anyone.
Riverbanks Zoo and Garden的点评
点评：My niece and I were in town for her 19th birthday to see the Disney exhibit at the nearby SC State Museum. But I was not going to be in Columbia without visiting the zoo.
Riverbanks Zoo covers 170 acres and is a zoo, aquarium, and botanical gardens that is situated along the Saluda River. They are home to over 3000 animals. The gardens cover 70 acres and contain about 5700 plants. You can also see the historical ruins from the 1800s textile industry and the Civil War. You can spot these from the foot bridge that takes you from the zoo to the gardens. They have been open since 1974 and are an award-winning zoo. This is the largest gated attraction in SC with over a million people visiting each year. They are members of the AZA. They do have a number of signature events throughout the year including Brew at the Zoo (August), Riverbanks ZooFari (September), Boo at the Zoo (October) and Wild Lights (November/December).
You really need hours here. We were only here about an hour and a half before my niece started feeling bad. We didn't get to cover very much in the time. But we did love the time we were here. We both got to see our favorites. I was able to see the pink Flamingos and my nice got to see the penguins. We even got to see them being fed. Everything was decorated for fall and Halloween.
You can purchase tickets on line. Advanced purchases are suggested for Signature events. They do have free parking. They do have a gift shop, restrooms, and a restaurant. They do offer a trolley that goes around the zoo and to take you from the zoo to the gardens. Do look good at the extra add ons. Some things that used to be free now have a charge such as the petting zoo and feeding the giraffes.
This is a great attraction for the whole family.
