点评:Home from a fantastic experience at the Moat in Donaghadee as part of a blind/visually impaired group from Bangor. There were 14 in our group including our sighted guides and from the minute we got introduced to Sandra Megahey and Helen Gaul from Ards and North Down Borough Council, we knew we were in for a great time. Both ladies were enthusiastic, informative and took time to compensate for our various degrees of sight loss with a descriptive commentary which painted a picture of what details could be missed. We sat outside for the first part of our experience and heard many stories about the history of Donaghadee which were also mixed with stories of the present day. The talk was very entertaining and a great summation of Donaghadee through the times.
The second part of our visit involved going into the moat to hear about its history and moving across to the camera obscura presentation. There was room for everyone to stand around the table while images of Donaghadee were projected onto the surface in front of us. Again, a very detailed description of what could be seen gave everyone an inclusive experience. There were lots of stories and interesting facts throughout the presentation which hit the perfect balance between interesting facts and local information. We were given a book and pen to take home with us and also given information for other suitable visits within the council for our group. Full marks to Sandra and Helen who went above and beyond to make the experience inclusive and very entertaining
