点评:Virgin have mastered the art of stripping value out of the loyalty program. Their lounge network and the farcical “star alliance” are fantastic examples.
Like so many low integrity operations they seized on COVID as an opportunity to reduce costs and strip value out of loyalty programs by closing lounges in busy places like Cairns and Darwin.
Not that the lounges are anything to crow about. Basic offerings, no protein, and massively over subscribed. Locals refer to the Brisbane Lounge as the Calcutter lounge. Massively over crowed, no benefit to being Platinum as you are lumped in together.
Then there is “The Star Alliance” which is a best an acquaintance that operates like a spiteful angry marriage.
None, and I mean none of your loyalty benefits carry over to the “partner airlines” unlike one world where status is recognised, virgin members get turned away from lounges, charged extra for baggage and treated like the child of the employee who refused to join the union at the company Christmas party.
At least Jetstar are upfront and honest about how cheap and nasty their product is. Virgin are Jetstar in a quality airline disguise.
