Great Green Space next to the Fortress with Views of the City

点评：This is a beautiful green park on the plateau above the Rhine River and adjacent to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. While a part of Koblenz, it is opposite the Rhine River from the town. The cable car which takes you to the Fortress disembarks in the park. However, this is only part of the park as it continues to the north over a more level plain.
Most of the park is open green grass; however, there is a great walk along the plateau ridge that is wooded but eventually opens for amazing views back across the Rhine to Koblenz. It is a great visit to experience the cable cars and see the city if you have unallotted time while you cruise is stopped in Koblenz. The park is free; however, that is a nominal fee to use the cable car which is a great expereince on its own.
We had some time after our visit to the Marksberg, so we took the cable car across the river. We were not really interested in paying for the fortress as we did not have that much time. However, we did walk the path along the ridge and got great views when there was a break in the trees. The best part was seeing a really unusual viewing platform in the park, the Koblenzer Kanten. It had the best views across the river and of Koblenz. We then walked back through the gardens for good pictures.
Again, if you have used time while stop in Koblenz, take the cable car across and see the park. It was great.
